Leigh Genesis U12 Storm v Robin Park United U12
On a wet and windy pitch at Lowton High School Leigh Genesis Storm and Robin Park United played out a classic with the home team winning 6-5.

The game was an end to end affair with the home team staring off very brightly with some slick passing and a very high tempo that got them on the front foot leading to 2 early goals, the first a tidy finish from Kai after a quick break and a nice cross from Euan and the second a nice finish from Sam Swann after an excellent cross from Jack. The two goals seemed to spark Robin Park United into life who then started to play some nice football leading to 3 goals,2 being excellent free kicks that left the keeper with no chance.
Half time storm 3 -2 down and heads had dropped after the good football early on.

The half time team talk was all about raising the heads of the players with positive encouragement and belief that they can still go out there and win the game.

A couple of half time changes brought some fresh energy to the team resulting in an equaliser and a tidy finish from Sam Blinkhorn.
The game then went from end to end before Robin Park won another free kick and a nice strike from the resulting free kick putting Robin Park 4-3 up and then a quick break put them 5 -3 up.
Instead of their heads dropping the storm players found fire in their bellies and started pushing to get back into the game.
Two quick fire goals from Kai brought storm level and the game was then there for storm to take as they were camped in the Robin Park half with good attacking play resulting in a high number of corners which eventually led to a winner from Stan Pitt after lots of perseverance and closing down the goalkeeper led to a shot from Stan which was saved well from the keeper but Stan was on hand to stab in the rebound.
The action wasn't done there as robin park pressed for an equaliser and won another free kick from distance. The run up for the strike meant that everyone knew that an effort was coming which resulted in a world class one handed save from Dylan which kept storm ahead in the game.

Storm eventually held on for the win and when the full time whistle went it was like storm had won the world cup final with both parents and players ecstatic.
Mom was captain fantastic Robert Greenaway who left everything on the pitch, never stopped running and inspiring his team mates.

Well done to the U12 Storm Players, Parents and coaches. The teams progression is certainly their to see!
