Due to the extraordinary dry summer the clay base of the playing fields shrunk. This lead to the grit and root zone around the drainage pipes to drop and hence the soil above them. An emergency repair plan was implemented in July/August costing a considerable amount of money for what was deemed to be an uninsurable loss. The repairs have taken time to knit together and decisions were made to keep the pitches closed in September and October. A back up plan was set up with Wigan Council and the Leagues our teams play in. The pitches are now showing signs of recovery and we will be using them on a trial basis in
November and also retaining back up pitches until we break up for Xmas.

SITE RULES

As we start to mobilise ourselves for using Lowton again for matches everyone is reminded of the site rules.
No smoking
No dogs
No brew stations
Bicycles to be left at the entrance gate to the grass pitches and not taken on the pitch
Abuse of Club Officials or Team Officials will not be tolerated. The Club House is open for all. Please use and support the facility.

BELIEVE WIGAN SPORTS AWARDS

Mens Social Football was nominated in the “Deal Project” category and LGFC in the “Club of the Year”. The applications were very high and we attained a 3rd place spot.

CHRISTMAS SHUTDOWN

The last training session of the year will be Friday 14th December as we break up for the festive period. Training restarts Monday 7th January 2019. Some games will be played Saturday and Sunday 15th and 16th December and on Saturday and Sunday 5th and 6th January 2019, but the expectation is not many will be scheduled.
