Welcome to Leigh Genesis F.C

Our Aim

  • Our vision is for the development of football to engage and excite people into a lifelong commitment to sport
  • To provide quality, safe opportunities for young people of all ages in our community.
  • To help people to realise their potential, develop personal skill and confidence.
  • To introduce people to football regardless of age, ability, sex, religion and ethnic background.
  • To improve the performance of players, coaches and volunteers within the community.
  • To provide a safe and positive alternative place to go other than playing on the streets.

Our Club

Leigh Genesis FC is an FA Charter Standard Community Club, one of only 25 in the Lancashire County FA and just 5 in the Wigan & Leigh Borough. We are proud of our Chartered Standard Community Status as this is the highest possible award for grassroots football. It recognises that we are a well-managed club providing quality coaching across all age groups for both male and females
We branch out into the community with our Soccer Schools, Goalkeeping Network, Men’s Social Football, RAS Football, Community Girls and Wildcat training sessions and have a Satellite Club link with Lowton High School for girls in all high school years.

In October 2014 we were awarded the “Club of the year” in the Believe Wigan Borough Sports Awards then went on to win the same award in the Greater Manchester Sports Awards in November.

In 2015 we were awarded Lancashire FA “Community Club of the Year” and went on to win the Northwest Regional Award. We were 3rd placed finalists in the Wigan Borough Sports Awards

In October 2016 we were again awarded the “Club of the Year” in the Wigan Borough Sports Awards then went on to represent the borough in the Greater Manchester Sports Awards in November.

In May 2017 we were once again awarded Lancashire FA “Community Club of The Year” and the Lowton High School Grass Pitch Drainage Project won the Counties “Best Inclusive Project”. We again won the “Club of the Year” award in the Believe Wigan Sports Awards.

Our Coaches

In order to best improve our player’s technical ability and enjoyment of the game we have invested heavily in our qualified coaches. We have over 60 coaches registered with the club. All our qualified and FA Licensed coaches are trained in child safeguarding, emergency aid and have completed an Enhanced FA Criminal Record Check.
We also offer dedicated goalkeeping and Elite and Team coaching via our specialised coaches and Head Coach.

Our Teams

We currently have 40 teams playing in over 10 leagues. We provide football for all levels of ability. Some of our teams play at the top level of their competition whilst other teams continue to develop in lower league competitions. Teams start at Under 5 with our Soccer Academy rising each year through to U18’s then U21’s. In the Open Age categories we have a First Team and also run a Veterans Team.
We have around 80 girls members plus those attending community sessions which represent 15% of our membership with girl’s teams at U8, 9, 10,11 15,18 & the wildcat group for younger ages.
Our teams play Saturday, Sunday and some midweek depending upon which league they compete in. The football season typically runs from September through to May with some younger age groups having a winter break. All teams train at least 1 day per week and we train all year round. We have winter training venues with all-weather pitches and floodlights.
Presentation Nights are in June thus completing a year round spell of football activity.

Our Home

Our home is at Lowton High School, where we have access to 3 full size grass pitches, a 9v9 pitch, a warm up area, a full size floodlit 3g pitch, a floodlit 3g MUGA pitch, changing rooms, toilets, car parking and a Club House with fully equipped licensed kitchen.
