"In a local landmark agreement Charter Standard Community Club, Leigh Genesis and Adult Football Club Leigh Athletic announce their intention to work in partnership for the forth coming season 2019-20.
Athletic who will continue with a first team and reserves in the Manchester Football League and a further team currently in the Wigan Amateur League and will be supported by Genesis in terms of a training venue, moving towards Charter Standard Status, perusing grant applications, management, coaching support and any other area that both clubs would feel advantageous.
Formed in 1958 Athletic have a history of success in the Lancashire Amateur League and Manchester League and play the highest level of football for any Leigh Team with just one division separating them from step 7 football of the FA pyramid. Their current aspiration is to have their own home and see youth players coming into their ranks as a major advantage and for their teams to move up divisions and leagues.
Genesis aspire to having a senior team at semi pro level once again and such a link would be a major step in this direction and this partnership would benefit from the planned and future investment at Lowton HS."
