Asteroids Victorious In Thrilling 4-3 Win Over
Tenacious Radcliffe Team

In the opening game of the season Leigh Genesis Asteroids played the ever tough Radcliffe Diamonds away on what was an unseasonably warm and bright September morning.
A fixture which has always brought a tough, fast match was not set to disappoint.
The girls turned up full of energy and ready to play a quick game of King Of The Ring confirmed they were here to win.
The weather was not the only unusual thing today, new rules brought new challenges and the pre match talk included the offside rule, pass back rule and the difference between direct and in direct free kicks.
The girls took everything in their stride and formed up to play an incredibly determined looking Radcliffe side.
The whistle blew and the game kicked off. Right from the start the action was fast with the opposition playing a fast and physical game.
The Asteroids pressed hard playing out from the back moving the ball fast out onto the wings and attacking with pace.
A flurry of goals followed first the Asteroids then Radcliffe, the Asteroids always managing to stay one ahead.
With half time came a hand full of Jelly Babies and a chat around the tactics board, together we hatched a plan to hit Radcliffe on the counterattack.
The second half proved hard work, it was very physically demanding with the Asteroids playing up hill in the mid-day sun, each Asteroid stepped up and showed their strength and endurance.
As we entered the last 10 minutes the score sat at 3 all, Radcliffe attacked hard causing a great save from our keeper, who with the half time team talk still ringing in her ears kicked long catching Radcliffe out, a great run followed by a brilliant pass lead to our forth goal.
As the full-time whistle blew the coaches had little more to say than “Well done girls great game”
