This being the teams first season together after being formed only at the beginning on the current season and the teams first season in the South Manchester Girls League things could be going better right now for the players and the coaches.

Heading into last Saturdays game second in the division and coming up against third in the table Altrincham Girls, Phoenix had a superb chance to open up a significant gap with only three games of the season left.

In a hard fort and competitive first half phoenix girls headed into half time with work to do being 2-1 down with the only first half goal coming from Racheal. Going into the second half Phoenix Girls took the game by the scuff of the neck drawling level with a goal from Caitlin to make the score 2-2!

Phoenix continued to push and knock at the Altrincham door but were unable to find the back of the net, with the game heading into the final minute Phoenix were awarded a life line when the referee awarded a free kick on the half way line, this was the final opportunity!

Up stepped Racheal to smash home a purler of a free kick to give Phoenix a 3-2 lead and 3 points to go with it! A superb second half fight back from the girls who are now in pole position to gain promotion in their first season together!

Good luck to the players, coaches Paul, Amanda and the parents on the final three game of the season, lets make sure its one to remember!
