News From Around The Club...

INTRODUCTION...

Welcome to our 7th newsletter aimed at improving communications within the Club.
BELIEVE WIGAN SPORTS AWARDS
Well done to Chris Cherry and Rob Atherton who both took 3rd placed finalists in the Volunteer and Unsung Hero awards.
In a pulsating evening the key award of Club of the Year was saved till last. As tensions grew and nominations were announced it became clear of the high level of competition we were up against. 3rd placed finalists announced, runner up announced and the winner Leigh......Genesis FC!!! The Committee members went wild at the announcement and took the stage to receive the star prize. This is the second time the club has won the award doing so in 2014 and 3rd placed finalist in 2015.

WELFARE OFFICERS

The Club now has 3 Welfare Officers.
We have a new Lead Welfare Officer in Andrew Burton. He will be supported by Chris Cherry. Rob Atherton will provide further advice and support.
All enquiries to be directed to Andrew on 07788171338.

HEAD COACH

Lee Darbyshire has been appointed Head Coach. Lee will work with struggling teams and the Football Development Committee to deliver Master Classes in different topics. Elite Striker Training has now commenced.
CLUB HOUSE
A big thank you to Chris, Julie and Kath for their fantastic work in serving drinks and food. They have worked 6-8 hours on most Saturdays and Sundays this season plus giving up more of their time organising and preparing. The team are highly valued.
We also thank Managers, Coaches, Players and Parents for supporting the facility and making it such a success.

LITTLE BAKE OFF

Vicki Lewis produced a super selection of cup cakes the proceeds of which, together with a club contribution, went to her chosen charity the McMillan Trust. A great idea and one we would be happy to repeat.

PITCH SET UPS

Well done to most teams who have now done their own pitch set up and or took them down. Its hard work, but massively rewarding when you see our boys, girls and men playing on top class playing fields. The coffins have now been modified which has made the job so much easier.

SITE RULES

Thank you to the vast majority of people who have observed the no smoking and no dog’s rules. For those that forget we will provide a polite reminder and or ask them to leave the site. We don’t wish to have bicycles and scooters on the field. If you use them to get to the game please park them next to the fence. In heavy conditions we may have to restrict the use of prams so best to check with a committee member should you wish to take a pram onto the pitch.
Bins and bin liners are now on each pitch and thank you for using them and keeping litter to a minimum.
Walkways are being used by following the roped circuit to keep people from walking across pitches to get to another one. Please use them.
Spectator barriers are also in use. When watching a game please do so behind the barrier. They are there to prevent spectators from entering the field of play. It’s not allowed to watch a game from behind the goals or any other area other than behind the barrier.
The behaviour of everyone in the club has been outstanding this season. However, we do get a few blips here and there. Rest assured the committee deals with these in the most appropriate way possible. Everyone should refrain from swearing or any display of aggressive behaviour no matter what the circumstances are. There is no place for this in our club. Visiting teams are expected to behave themselves in the same way as our members. So far very impressive apart from a series of issues, concerns and incidents regarding one particular team and a formal complaint to the league has been sent stating they are not welcome at Lowton with immediate effect.

XMAS PARTY

This will take place on the 18 December 13.30-17.30 at Lowton Civic Hall. Invited age groups are U6, 7, 8, 9, 10 boys and girls.
DJ, Light show, Santa, wrapped present, Reindeer Rodeo, Bouncy Castle and food for children and adults will be provided. Tickets are on sale now at the club house priced at £2.50 each
