SPORTS AWARDS
Since the last News Letter the club won the Believe Wigan Sports Awards for “Club of the Year” for the third time in 4 years. This is in addition to winning the Lancashire FA “Community Club of the Year” and “Best Inclusive Project”. This rounded off a wonderful and successful end to 2017.

MUGA PITCH
The Muga Pitch has been a huge success. U7 & U8 use it as their home venue, as do U7 & U9 Girls. Teams are using it for training as we moved from LSV. The school repaired the floodlights and usage signs have now been erected. Please ensure the information is observed.

OPEN ARMS
We have partnered with British Red Cross to provide Community Football sessions to those groups who need help to engage with the local community. Sessions are on a Monday 6-7 pm on the ATP. Wayne Hampson will continue to deliver the sessions.

DISABILITY FOOTBALL
We have partnered with Just BU to provide football for disabled groups during school holidays. The group will use the club house, changing rooms and Muga Pitch to get a taste of being part of a large football club. Josh Smith will play a lead role in delivering the project.

ATP- 3G
Lowton High School has now given permission for the large Astroturf pitch to be upgraded to 3G. Flood lights and fencing are in a good state of repair and so we will initially focus on the preparation of a pitch specification which will then go out to tender. Our saving plan continues and work could commence in the summer.

GIRLS SECTION
The Girls Section is thriving under the magic of our very own David Hunt.
Our established U13 and U11 teams managed by Gareth Anderton and Jonny Kavanagh are continuing to learn their trade and compete effectively. U8/9 Girls started their first formal season in September and are developing very nicely indeed. With all this going on, David also targeted 6 & 7 year olds via our Community Girls session and with the support of Gareth Anderton and Roy Faux we have now created an U7 Supernova team that are currently playing friendlies.

Add to this our fantastic partnership with Wigan Athletic Community Trust and Hannah Hipkin-Steele we have seen our Satellite Girls Programme really take off in January with some 15 girls enjoying a training session 2-3 pm at Lowton. Hannah also pushed forward with enticing girls 12+ to our Community Sessions on Wednesday’s 6-7 pm and we are attracting a similar number to that session as well. The club now has around 80 girls enjoying football within the club.

CLUB HOUSE
The club house is open on Saturday and Sunday match days and we may open on mid week match days later in the season. We have a good choice of hot and cold food and drinks.
We would like all teams to use the facility and do encourage this by offering free hot dogs for both home and away players. We make no secret that the idea of this is to get parents in who we would hope would buy something for themselves. Please bear this in mind and support the club house so we can continue to improve our after match experience.

PRESENTATION AWARDS
The presentations for U6,7,8,9 and all the Girls Teams will be held at Lowton High School on Saturday 23rd June 2018.
A game of football on the MUGA pitch or the large astro pitch will be followed by food at the dressed up Club House. Drinks and snacks will be on sale and we will present the trophies there.

GOAL POST
Since moving to Lowton the club has invested into purchasing quality goal posts and netting which we feel compliments the top quality setting. It’s important that when setting up and taking down managers and helpers take care of the equipment so to ensure they remain serviceable.
Transportation wheels for 7v7 and 9v9 goals have been purchased and or repaired and these wheels must be used to transport the goals posts. If they are carried the joint where the post meets the cross bar will be stressed and may fail.

COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES
As well as coaching teams at training and delivering match day games the club also delivers social activities that can be accessed by members and non-members alike. These are:
