Law Training/Leigh Genesis Football Scholarship were delighted at being invited to play at the Bolton Wanderers International Academy on the famous Reebok pitch last Monday.
The Genesis boys and Managers soaked up the atmosphere by arriving in their club wear, having a good pre-match discussion in the changing room followed by a professional warm up and picture shoot.
The International Squad fielded a number of target squad players which gave them a very solid defensive presence. A lively attack caused the Genesis defence some major first half problems and the Academy side cruised to a 3-0 lead within 25 minutes.
A number of changes by both teams then gave the initiative to Genesis. As they held firm in defence, chances began to be created regularly. Astonishingly, they failed to trouble the impressive Bolton goalkeeper and the 3-0 deficit remained at half time.
In the second half, Genesis continued to compete very effectively and chances to score were missed with a whisker. A couple of lapses of concentration in defence made it 5-0 to the Wanderers and out of sight for the plucky lads from Leigh to pull back.
A fantastic day cementing a wonderful relationship between the two clubs which was the true winner of the day.
